Your pain medication for surgery was/will be electronically sent to your pharmacy of record.

Pre-Op Lab Work (including COVID-19 testing if applicable) to be drawn at the hospital before your procedure. The hospital will contact you to coordinate your appointment for this.
EKG, Chest X-ray to be completed at the hospital before your procedure. The hospital will contact you to coordinate your appointment for this.
All Pre-Op workup, such as medical clearances or diagnostic radiology imaging should be done as soon as possible to avoid any delays for your surgery.
Do not take any type of aspirin, non-steroidal or anti-inflammatory medications (Advil, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Naproxen), or any Supplements/Vitamins for at least 7 days before procedure unless you are otherwise instructed. For pain you can ONLY USE Tylenol, or narcotic (Vicodin, etc) for pain relief.
Do not take antiplatelet drugs (antiaggregant) e.g. Plavix, Pradaxa, Aggrastat for 7 days prior to your procedure. If you are taking any anticoagulant drugs, make sure you have a plan with your prescribing doctor regarding discontinuation and/or the amount of days you have to bridge with Lovenox.
Do not take any ACE inhibitors or Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs) for 24 hours before surgery.

If you are taking diabetic medication, make sure you have informed your surgeon. Your surgeon will advise when to stop, if at all.
Bowel prep/clear liquid diet instructions (to clean out your bowels) will be given to you, if needed. Read instructions carefully. Do your bowel prep THE DAY BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE.
Fast 8 hours before surgery. Only a SIP of water to swallow your regular morning medication is allowed (No ACE inhibitors or diabetic medications).
Arrive two hours before your procedure to be admitted unless you are otherwise instructed.
Anesthesiology will contact you the day before or the day of surgery to discuss anesthesia issues.
The surgery scheduler will call you with your date and time of surgery.

The Department of Anesthesia have an updated guideline that patient’s on ACE inhibitors and Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs) coming to the OR for surgery must stop taking these agents for 24 hours prior to surgery. ACE inhibitors and ARBs have relatively long half-lives and no significant rebound effect when stopped for 24 hours.
